About Us
Out of the ashes of the Dragons Amateur Speedway Club rises the phoenix, that is Mercians. With the pandemic taking a heavy toll on speedway all over the country trying to put meetings on proved nigh on impossible and the continued demise of tracks along with the very sad loss of Julie Tutton, who had founded the club along with Tim Stone at Newport, we all agreed that it was time to call it a day, as too much had conspired against us.
Still, as they say, you never know what’s around the corner and here we are, with the fabulous support of Leicester Speedway launching ourselves headlong into a new era of amateur race meetings.
The Mercians Club will be run along very similar lines to what we did previously, with the emphasis on team events rather than individual meetings. We have always found that it makes a huge difference when you may not have had the best day personally on track you still contributed to the team’s overall performance and may well come away with a winner’s medal for your efforts.
Claire, Steve and myself could not be more excited about what lies ahead, especially as we get to work once again with the amazing Ride ‘n’ Slide team as well as the simply great staff at the track.
Let’s go racing……………
